NCEA Level Two English: Externally Assessed   12ENA, 12ENB, 12ENC

(25 credits: 13 internal, 12 external)

 

The externally assessed options offer students a pathway to university entrance and limited entry courses at university that is both internally and externally assessed. The range of options is both wide enough to offer an exciting range of possibilities in each course with both contemporary written and film texts as well as more traditional classics, such as Shakespeare. Students can choose one of the following 3 options, all of which have the same assessment structure.

 

12ENA: Sci-fi / fantasy, dilemmas of our current age and new horizons

12ENB: Actions, reactions and interactions

12ENC: Power and justice

You will learn to:

  • Critically respond to ideas in texts, using relevant evidence to justify your ideas and make connections between and beyond texts
  • Appreciate, understand and explore a range of texts types, including contemporary and older literature, films and other texts
  • Communicate ideas confidently and clearly in oral and written forms

 

Pre-requisites: 16 or more credits at level 1, including at least 5 credits from Level 1 external English standards.

NCEA Level Two English :Internally Assessed   12EIA, 12EIB

(22 internal  and external credits)

 

This option offers students a pathway to university entrance that is mainly internally assessed.  This year we have included 2 external assessment opportunities to increase students' chances pf achieving UE literacy and to gain further English credits. The two choices offer an exciting range of possibilities in mainly contemporary written and film texts. Students can choose one of the following 2 options, both of which have the same assessment structure.
